A vigorous, divaricately much-branched, erect shrublet, 2-5 dm high, glabrous (except leaf-axils), leafy at the branch tips, otherwise nude, branchlets short, often reduced to brachyblasts; cortex grey. Leaves closely set at the tips of branches and on brachyblasts, erecto-patent-spreading, 1-2 cm long, linear in the basal half, from or above the middle 3-partite with forking or entire (seldom 3-lobed) lateral lobes, central lobe entire or occasionally 2-3-lobed; leaf segments linear, flattened, coriaceous, c. 1 mm wide or less, without distinct veins, apically distinctly or minutely white-apiculate; leaf-base dilated, half-clasping or nearly so, arachnose in the axil. Peduncles lateral in the upper leaf-axils, few-several on each branchlet, erect, long and fairly slender, 5-13 cm long, 0.5-1 mm thick, somewhat flexuous, terete, ± striate. Involucre hemispherical or somewhat broadly cupshaped, 0.8-1.2 cm in diam. Involucral bracts 7-11, subuniseriate, connate at the base (up to 1/3 or occasionally to 1/2), ovate-narrowly oblong-ovate-lanceolate, 5-7 mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide, 3-5-veined, somewhat purplish towards the apex, subacute or somewhat acuminate, with sub-membranous margins and ciliate tips. Receptacle convex, alveolate. Ray-florets 7-11, yellow. Tube 0.8-1.5 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina broadly-narrowly elliptic-oblong, 5-6 mm long, 1.8-5 mm wide, 4(-7)-veined. Style terete with swollen base; style branches 1-1.3 mm long, obtuse.1 Disc-florets c. 20-40. Corolla 3.2-4 mm long. Tube 1.2-1.8 mm long, cylindrical. Limb campanulate, 2-2.3 mm long; lobes deltoid or ovate, c. 1 mm long. Anthers 1.5-1.7 mm long inch the ovate obtuse appendage. Pollen grains 26.8-31.7 u in diam. Style terete with somewhat swollen base; stylophore distinct, up to 0.2 mm long; style branches c. 0.5 mm long, with somewhat convex tips. Pappus bristles numerous, 1.5-2 mm long, erect, white. Achenes oblong-obovate, 3-4 mm long, c. 2 mm wide, densely villous with light brown, somewhat shiny, appressed, 1-2 mm long hairs, mucilaginous when soaked, with 5 veins or faint ribs under the indumentum.
