Characteristics

A copiously branching erect-ascending shrublet 1-8 dm high. Branches closely leafy, somewhat arachnose-woolly near the ends, lower down nude and clothed with imbricated scale-like leaf-scars. Leaves very close-set, spreading, narrowly oblong, entire, 4-7 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, glabrous, bright green, minutely niuricate (surface finely white-dotted), semiterete, obtuse and apiculate; leaf-margins distinctly ciliolate-denticulate; adaxial side flat, finely impressed-midveined; abaxial side convex, midribbed; leaf-base dilated, half-clasping or nearly so, sparsely woolly in the axil (of the young leaves). Peduncles lateral in the uppermost leaf-axils, 2-8 mm long, 0.4-0.7 mm thick, glabrous, striate. Involucre campanulate, glabrous. Involucral bracts uniseriate, 5(-6), connate to 1/4-1/3, lanceolate-narrowly ovate, 3-4.5 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, distinctly (1-)3-veined, acute-acuminate or sometimes more obtuse. Receptacle flat or slightly convex, alveolate. Ray-florets 2-5, yellow. Tube 1-2 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina elliptic-elliptic-oblong, 2.5-3.5 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, 4-veined. Style terete; style branches 1-1.3 mm long, obtuse. Disc-florets 8-13. Corolla 3.5-4 mm long. Tube 1-1.5 mm long, cylindrical. Limb narrowly campanulate, c. 2.5 mm long; lobes ovate-narrowly ovate, 0.5-0.8 mm long. Anthers 1.5-1.8 mm long incl. the ovate subacute appendage. Style terete with somewhat swollen base; stylophore short; style branches 0.5-0.7 mm long with truncate or slightly convex tips. Pappus bristles numerous, 1-2 mm long, erect, white. Achenes oblong-obovate, 2.5-3 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, light or yellowish brown, glabrous, somewhat coarsely rugose, with 5-7 distinct ribs.
