Characteristics

An erect branching shrub, up to 1.5 m high, often with surface resin. Branches glabrous or glabrate, rather closely leafy towards the ends, lower down becoming nude. Leaves erecto-patent-spreading, filiform-linear, (0.5-)1-5 cm long, 0.5-1.5 mm wide, entire or occasionally 2-3-parted, flattened, acute-acuminate with a firm point, subpungent, young leaves shortly and sparsely tomentose, becoming glabrate with age. Peduncles lateral in the upper leaf-axils, 1-10 cm long, 0.2-0.8 mm thick, glabrous, straw-coloured, terete or striate, usually longer than the leaves and forming a corymb overraging the leaves. Involucre cupshaped, 4-10 mm wide, 4-7 mm high, glabrous. Involucral bracts 7-15, uniseriate, connate to 2/3-4/5 (or at least to the middle), usually splitting up in the fruiting stage, lanceolate-narrowly ovate or ovate-oblong, 4-7 mm long, 1-2.5 mm wide, yellowish-dark green, with 3-6, ± distinct, brown-dark green, almost black veins, forming a smooth cup or sometimes gibbous towards the base, acute or subacute, with entire margins and puberulous tips. Receptacle somewhat convex, alveolate. Ray-florets 5-13, yellow. Tube 1-3 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina elliptic-oblong-narrowly oblong, 5-16 mm long, (1.5-)2-5 mm wide, 4(-7)-nerved. Style terete with somewhat swollen base; style branches 0.5-1.5 mm long, with obtuse-rounded tips. Disc-florets c. 25-50. Corolla 3-5(-6) mm long. Tube 1-2.5(-3) mm long, cylindrical. Limb campanulate, 2-3 mm long; lobes 0.5-1.2 mm long, ovate-lanceolate. Anthers 1.3-2 mm long incl. the ovate obtuse appendage. Style terete with swollen base; style branches 0.5-0.8 mm long, with slightly convex tips. Pappus bristles numerous, 1-2 mm long, white, often some reflexed. Achenes obovate-oblanceolate-narrowly oblong, 2-3 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, often slightly curved, densely to rather sparsely covered with white-brownish, appressed papillae, with 5(-8) distinct resiniferous ribs under the indumentum.

Leaves erect to spreading, filiform-linear, 5-50 mm long, mostly entire, flat, young leaves ± hairy. Peduncles lateral in upper leaf axils, 10-100 mm long, glabrous, longer than leaves, forming a corymb. Capitula 20 mm in diam.; involucre cup-shaped, 4-10 mm wide, glabrous; bracts 7-15, uniseriate, lobes ± lanceolate, 3-7 mm long, 3-6-veined, margins entire, apex hairy. Receptacle ± convex, alveolate. Ray florets 5-13, yellow. Disc florets 25-50. Flowering time July-Dec. Pappus of many bristles, 1-2 mm long, white. Cypselae obovate to oblong, 2-3 mm long, often ± curved, appressed papillate, ribs 5-8.
Shrub, up to 1.5 m tall, with erect stems. Leaves crowded towards branch tips, linear-filiform, sometimes 3-partite, flattened, (5-)10-50 mm long, mealy when young. Flowerheads solitary in upper axils, forming corymbs, on wiry peduncles 10-100 mm long, radiate, yellow; involucre cup-shaped, 4-10 mm diam., bracts 7-15, connate > 1/2. Cypselas appressed-papillate.
Like E. tenuissimus but leaves (5-)10-50 mm long, flower heads borne above leaves, involucres cup-shaped and achenes shortly hairy.
