An erect branching shrub, 0.3-2.5 m high. Steins and branches glabrous or glabrescent, often floccose or arachnose when young, closely leafy towards the tips, lower down nude and marked with leaf-scars. Leaves erect-spreading or reflexed when old, straight or curved, filiform-linear, 1.5-15 cm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, flattened or sub-terete, entire or (2-)3(-6)-partite above the middle, glabrous or glabrate, ± arachnose-tomentose when young, acute-acuminate. Peduncles lateral and solitary in the upper leaf-axils, many in a corymb-like arrangement, 2-15 cm long, 0.4-1 mm thick, terete or striate, glabrous (or rarely floccose when young), + straw-coloured. Involucre hemispherical-widely cupshaped or ± expanded, 5-13 mm wide, glabrous. Involucral bracts 7-24, uniseriate, 3-6 mm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, connate to 1/3-1/2 or slightly more, herbaceous or somewhat coriaceous, 3-7-nerved or indistinctly veined; the free lobes ovate to lanceolate, obtuse-acute or acuminate, 1-3 mm long, puberulous-tipped. Receptacle convex, distinctly alveolate. Ray-florets about equalling the involucral bracts in number, yellow-orange-coloured. Tube 1-3 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina elliptic-elliptic-oblong-lorate or linear, or oblong-obovate to oblanceolate, 4.5-15 mm long, 1.5-5 mm wide, 4-5(-9)-nerved. Style terete; style branches 0.5-1 mm long, flattened, with truncate-rounded tips. Disc-florets c. 25-150. Corolla 2.3-4 mm long. Tube 0.8-1.5 mm long, cylindrical. Limb campanulate, 1.5-2.5 mm long; lobes ovate-narrowly ovate, 0.5-1.3 mm long. Anthers 0.8-1.8 mm long incl. the ovate obtuse-acute appendage. Style terete with swollen base; style branches 0.5-1 mm long, truncate-obtuse. Pappus bristles numerous-copious, 0.8-1.5 mm long, white. Achenes narrowly obovate-oblong-obovate, often somewhat curved, 1-3 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, densely white-brownish pubescent with short and straight, ± appressed hairs, mucilaginous when wet, with 5 often indistinct ribs under the indumentum.
