A tall, erect, little-branched, glabrous, strongly resiniferous shrub, closely leafy in the upper parts, lower down defoliated; cortex greyish brown or often yellowish when young, ± sulcate. Leaves suberect-erecto-patent, pinnatiparlite, 4-8 cm long, coriaceous, greyish green; leaf segments filiform, 4-8 on each side, 1-3 cm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, opposite-alternate, erecto-patent, narrowly impressed-veined on the adaxial side, short-acuminate or apiculate. Peduncles terminal, solitary, erect, very stout, 15-30 cm long, 2-4 mm thick, terete or finely striate. Involucre a deep flat-based cup, widening above with straight sides, 12-20 mm high, 12-30 mm in diam., striate or almost smooth, coriaceous, yellowish green or brownish. Involucral bracts 20-22, uniseriate, connate high up; the free lobes narrowly triangular, 5-8 mm long, erect, acuminate, with puberulous margins and tips. Receptacle flat, distinctly alveolate. Ray-florets 17-22, orange-coloured-rich yellow. Tube 4-5 mm long, cylindrical. Lamina narrowly oblanceolate, 27-45 mm long, 5-10 mm wide, 7-17-veined. Style terete with swollen base; style branches 1.5-2 mm long, truncate. Disc-florets numerous (c. 100-200). Corolla 6.5-7.5 mm long, tubular, gradually widening above; lobes narrowly triangular, 1-1.5 mm long. Anthers 2.5-3 mm long incl. the ovate appendage. Style terete or somewhat flattened in the lower part, with swollen base; style branches 1.5-2 mm long, truncate. Pappus bristles numerous, 1-2 mm long, white, the outer shorter and reflexed over the ovary. Achenes narrowly oblong, 5-6 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, compressed or somewhat triquetrous, glabrous, brown, indistinctly 5-ribbed.
