Characteristics

Plants slender to fairly robust, turning black on drying, to 550 mm; leaves narrowly lanceolate, up to 250 x 60 mm. Inflorescences dense, to 170 mm, 4-numerous-flowered; bracts ovate, acute, overtopping flowers, to 26 x 9 mm. Flowers car-nose, c. 18 x 7 mm, with green sepals, pink petals and whitish-pink lip; ovaries c. 13 mm long. Median sepal elliptic-acute, 5-7 x 2-2.5 mm; lateral sepals free, oblique, acute, shallowly concave, 5-7 x 3-3.5 mm. Petals saccate, acute, 6-7 x 3 mm. Lip 3 x 3.5-4 mm, with 2 broad diverging lobes; appendage 3-4 x 1.5 mm, forming a beaked hood over the gynostemium. Stigmas on the lateral rostellum arms; rostellum c. 1 mm tall, arms c. 1 mm long on either side of the lip appendage.
