Characteristics

Plants deep green, caespitose or in silky mats. Stems 25-50 mm long, creeping. Leaves closely imbricate, often julaceous when dry, spreading when wet; ovate to ovate-acuminate, with long, hyaline hair points formed by narrow apices; margins toothed by single projecting cells above; costa weak, ending above mid-leaf. Upper laminal cells oblong-rhomboid, up to 50 (jm long; alar cells quadrate. Perichaetial leaves erect, pellucid, long-sheathing. Capsule cupulate; peristome teeth broad, short.
