Characteristics

Small, autoecious; stems up to 2 cm long, prostrate, pinnate, with short erect branches; leaves numerous, closely appressed when dry, spreading when moist, chlorophyllose when young, 1 mm long, ovate-acuminate, entire, faintly nerved half-way; cells shortly rhomboid, 50 µ long, shorter and wider toward the leaf-base, the alar cells numerous and quadrate, 10ju, wide, the marginal cells at mid-leaf slightly overlapping but hardly denticulate. Per. leaves short, wide, nerveless, with short dentate point. Seta 3-5 mm long; capsule erect, oval-oblong, verruculose, cup-shaped when dry, with eight bundles of short teeth inserted low in the mouth. Lid deeply convex. Leaves on prostrate stems narrower and homomallous.
