Leaves in whorls of 3, markedly discolorous; blades 1.7–6 × 0.8–2.5 cm, elliptic to oblong-obovate, obtuse to bluntly acute or even slightly retuse at the apex, cuneate at the base, the upper surface with a dense grey pubescence which does not hide the leaf surface, sometimes only the venation pubescent, the lower surface usually densely grey velvety; lateral nerves 4–6; petioles 1.5–3.5 mm long; stipules c. 1.5–2 mm long.
Corolla obtuse in bud; tube greenish-yellow or yellow, about 3.5–6 mm long, hairy outside near apex with a ring of deflexed hairs inside; lobes bright yellow, spreading, 4–5 × 1.3–2 mm, narrowly oblong, acute, densely hairy outside.
Suffrutex 10–25 cm tall, with several rather slender unbranched stems from a creeping slender woody rhizome; stems pale to dark reddish-brown, densely pubescent with short white spreading hairs.
Inflorescences 1–4-flowered; peduncle short, up to 2 mm long; pedicels 2–6 mm long, densely grey pubescent, mostly reflexed in fruit.
Pollen presenter green, coroniform, 2–3-lobed, the lobes 4–6-ribbed, the ribs with transverse grooves.
Fruits 5–7 mm in diameter, globose, pubescent, with only 1 pyrene developed (in material seen).
Calyx tube and limb together about 1.5 mm long, pubescent; teeth 0.5–1 mm long, triangular.
Style 5–8 mm long.
Ovary 3-locular.
