Elegant trees; twigs glabrous, dark grey, warty. Leaves simple or 1–many-times pinnate, usually including a terminal leaflet; petiole and rhachis winged or not; leaflets with wax dots, glossy. Inflorescences axillary, narrowly paniculate, each containing both male and female flowers. Sepals 5, free.. Petals minute, without claw or scales. Disk circular, densely shaggy-white-hairy. Stamens 5; anthers dorsifixed, sagittate. Ovary globose; ovary-rudiment in male flower absent. Fruit a 1-seeded drupe, purple, glabrous and shining. Seed without aril; cotyledons contorted.
