Characteristics

Erect, stiff suffrutex, up to 2.5 m high; little branched, branches ascending. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 10(-15) mm long, acute, strongly crisped, margins undulate, leathery, semi-succulent, shortly petiolate. Flowers reddish purple, ± pendulous, pedicellate; crowded, usually in groups of 3 per node, in a terminal raceme up to 100 mm long, sometimes with lateral racemes. Corolla: tube 22(-24) mm long, straight, somewhat flaring; lobes spreading. Flowering time Apr.-Oct., mostly in June.
