Characteristics

Evergreen shrub or small tree, up to 6 m high; mostly many-stemmed, small branches drooping. Leaves up to 120 mm long, lanceolate or narrowly elliptical, both ends tapering, entire, leathery, sessile. Flowers strong yellow or rarely white or creamy pink inside, ± white outside, honey-scented, in many-flowered, terminal panicles up to 200 mm long. Corolla: tube ± cylindrical, up to 10 mm long; limb regular; lobes 5, spreading or reflexed. Flowering time Dec.-Feb., sometimes also other months.
