Monoicous, small, reddish brown, on bark or stone. Stem 1-2 cm long, 70-100 µ in diameter, ± irregularly branched and with short secondary branches. Leaves imbricate, not or somewhat exceeding the stem, lobes some-what concave, apex rounded, length about 360 µ and width 340 µ. Marginal cells 11-12 µ in the middle of the lobe 14-18 µ, regular, rounded polygonal, walls visible as rings overlapping each another, sometimes thin, trigones small. Scattered hyaline cells with strongly coloured cuticle. Oil bodies 3-5 per cell, 4 x 4-4 x 8 µ, compound. Lobule claviform, parallel to the stem or somewhat clined to the stem, only few lobules open near the apex of the shoots. Cells in live lobule to 18 µ long. Style straight, 3-4 cells long. Amphigastria distant, appressed to the stem, longer than wide, hardly exceeding the stem, margins entire, insertion line slightly arched, bilobed lo 1/4-1/3, lobes obtuse-subacute, trigones nodose. Androecia globose, apical on short branches, bracts in 4-5 pairs, free lo the base, lobes ovate with a rather abrupt apical point (resembling that in F. brunnea), bracteole bilobed to1/2-1/3, apex acute, median margin of the lobes frequently reflexed, sinus acute. Perianth exceeding the bracts, ellipsoid-ovate, smooth but with sharp wings, rostrum 75-85 µ long, with rather long, brown, blunt cilia, one-two cells long.
