Monoicous, of the same size and habitus as F. arecae. Leaves imbricate, margin entire, not undulate, on the dorsal side with a small rounded appendage. Lobule large, parallel to the stem, consisting of a claviform-helm-shaped upper portion, often with a small beak in the lateral corner of the free margin and a usually flat lamelliform prolongation of the dorsal wall, margin of this flat, no incisure between those two parts. Stylus small, 2-4 cells long, uniseriate. Cells roundedly polygonal, in the margin 12-20 µ, in the centre of the lobe 16-26 µ, basal cells larger. Cuticle smooth. Trigones large, walls thin, without intermediar thickenings. Oil bodies 5-8 per cell, ellipsoid, compound of small drops, 6-8 x 4-6 µ. Amphigastria appressed to the stem, large, 4-5 times wider than the stem, apex somewhat emarginate or truncate, insertion line arched and the base cordate. Androecia flatly globose, in very short branches, with 2-5 pairs of imbricate, bidentate-entire bracts. Female organs in ± elongated branches, with 1-2 pairs of bracts, connate to each another and the bracteole to 4/5 of their length, irregularly dentate. Perianth hardly exceeding the bracts, longly cylindrical, with 8-10 ridges of varying length and a long rostrum.
