Dioicous? Rather large, on bark, brown, as dry almost black. Stem 1-2.5 cm long, irregulary branched, diameter 160-200 µ. Leaves imbricate, lobe squarrous-patent, concave, apex obtuse or subacute, sometimes apiculate, usually incurved, dorsal margin strongly arched, dorsal appendage rounded, size 720-930 x 1000-1350 µ. Lobule large, subtriangular, hemicylindric. keel arched, with obtuse angle to the lobe, sinus obtuse, apical tooth acute, 1-2 cells long, free margin usually with 5 teeth. Leaf-cells hexagonal, trigones nodulose, sometimes intermediar thickenings. Marginal cells 12-15 x 14-18 µ, cells in the centre 20-24 x 26-30 µ, basal cells 24-30 x 30-40 µ, cuticle smooth, no ocelli. Amphigastria imbricate, 4 times broader than the stein, ovate, apex rotundate or truncate, two basal auriculae, insertion line strongly arched. Female inflorescence in ± elongated branch, with 2 innovations. Female bracts larger than the leaves, lobe elliptical, entire, apex rounded or obtuse, sometimes apiculate, lobule elliptical-lanceolate, entire, apex obtuse, keel rounded, with a membranaceous wing. Bracteole spatulate, apex rounded, truncate-refuse. Perianth longer than the bracts claviform-cylindrical, apex truncate, with 10 obtuse keels reaching almost to the base, rostrum long.
