Few-to many-stemmed, perennial herb, 0.3-0.8 m high; stems ± erect or ascending, often with short-shoots with small leaves; densely covered with longish whitish or yellowish white hairs. Leaves ± ovate-lanceolate, up to 62 x 35 mm, base ± cordate, apex subacute, densely hairy as above; stipular sheath with 3-5 setae. Inflorescences up to 250 x 200 mm, stiff; peduncles and pedicels thin, divergent, up to 7 mm long in fruit. Flowers male, hermaphrodite or female; corolla greenish yellow or creamy yellow, sometimes reddish brown-tinged outside, glabrous or papillate near tip. Flowering time Aug.-Feb. Fruit ± smooth, wrinkled or warty mericarps, up to 2 x 1.6 mm.
