Shrub or small tree 2–3 m. tall, glabrous; branchlets slender, narrowly 4-winged.. Leaves opposite; blades bright green on both surfaces, ovate to lanceolate or elliptic, 6–9 cm. long, 2.5–5 cm. wide, shortly and mostly very acutely acuminate at the apex, cuneate to rounded at the base, thickly papery, venation prominent on both surfaces with 12–20 pairs of main lateral nerves and with translucent streaks and interrupted lines ± parallel to them but without visible dark longitudinal glandular lines; petiole 4–6 mm. long, channelled above, yellow-green to orange with an inconspicuous ligule.. Inflorescences terminal or axillary.. Male flowers in few–many-flowered shortly pedunculate cymes; pedicels 1.5–4 mm. long.. Sepals 4, pale green, unequal, the outer pair broadly ovate to ± round, 1–1.3 mm. long, 1–1.3 mm. wide, cucullate, the inner pair broadly obovate to round, 2–2.5 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, rounded at the apex.. Petals 4, yellow, oblong or oblanceolate, 3–3.5 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide, rounded at the apex.. Stamen-bundles 2, opposite the sepals, each of 3 stamens with the filaments completely united and anthers sessile, oblong or elliptic, curved or straight, not locellate.. Rudimentary ovary flattened-obconic, ± 1 mm. in diameter with a 4-lobed stigma.. Female flowers and fruit unknown.
