Characteristics

Almost acaulescent herb, the stems 0.5-5 cm long. Leaves crowded at the apex of the stem and raised slightly above ground, sessile, linear or narrowly oblanceolate, often conduplicate, 3-10 cm long, 0.2-0.8 cm wide, base attenuate or running on to the stem, margins entire or obscurely denticulate, apex acute and mucronate, araneose-pubescent on both surfaces. Capitula 7-9 mm long, solitary and sessile in the leaf axils; phyllaries green or red-brown with yellow or reddish tips, the outermost white-hairy, ovate, 5-7 mm long, the innermost glabrous but ciliate, subulate; receptacle paleate, the paleae fimbriate and 2.5-3 mm long. Florets yellow; outer florets few, tube narrowly cylindric, 1.6-3 mm long, ray 1-2.5 mm long, 0.4-0.7 mm wide, style 2-4.5 mm long; disc florets few, tube cylindric, 2.2-3 mm long, lobes 0.3-0.5(-0.9) mm long and unequal, one lobe is almost twice as long as the four others, pilose, anthers 0.9-1.5 mm long, style 2.1-2.8 mm long. Achenes ellipsoid, 1.5-1.7 mm long, densely stiff-hairy; pappus of scales, the inner with central barbellate awn to 2 mm long.
