Characteristics

Much-branched shrublet to c. 70 cm tall; branches angular, ribbed, glandular-punctate and pubescent or glabrescent, sometimes angles expanding into very narrow ribs less than 1 mm wide. Leaves sessile, stiff and ± thickened, up to 6 x 2 mm, oblong-lanceolate, apex obtuse or submucronate, obtuse at the base, margins entire, cobwebby when very young otherwise glabrous, midrib prominent, glandular-punctate on both sides. Capitula sessile, solitary and terminal or in the forks of the branches; involucre up to 5 mm in diam., ovoid; involucral bracts c. 4-seriate, the outer short and ovate the inner progressively longer to the inside and up to 0.8 mm long, linear-oblong, obtuse and mucronate, tomentose near the apex; receptacular paleae c. 3 mm long, clasping the cypselas, serrate-fimbriate at the truncate apex, glabrous. Ray-florets yellow, female, 5-6 mm long, truncate and shortly 3-lobed at the apex with linear-oblong lobes. Disk-florets yellow, c. 6.5 mm long, tubular in the lower one-third, campanulate above, lobes divided almost to the base of the upper part, narrowly linear-triangular with a thickened margin and glandular outside. Cypselas c. 3.3 mm long, cylindric and tapering to the base, 5-ribbed and pubescent on the ribs; pappus 0.75 mm long, of numerous biseriate triangular paleae with ciliate margins, inner series shortly aristate.
