Characteristics

Plants 120-260 mm high. Corm globose, symmetric, 6-10 mm diam.; tunics blackish, imbricate, woody, notched into regular segments below. Spike flexuose, inclined, (1-)3-to 8-flowered; bracts green, margins often lined with red above, sometimes becoming dry and membranous from apex, 7-9 mm long, inner shorter and much narrower than outer. Flowers actinomorphic, rotate, deep blue-mauve with pale throat or white; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 1.5-2.0 mm long, enclosed in bracts; tepals elliptic, 10-15 x 4-8 mm. Filaments suberect, unequal, two longer 3-4 mm long, shorter one 2.0-2.5 mm long; anthers 3-5 mm long, white or pale yellow. Style dividing opposite or beyond anther tips, branches ± 2 mm long.
