Characteristics

Plants (70-)120-350 mm high. Corm globose, symmetric, ± 10 mm diam., tunics concentric, pale brown, notched below into segments and drawn into bristles above. Stem erect or inclined, unbranched. Leaves 2 or 3, usually lower 2 well developed, basal, upper of these sheathing stem for some distance, linear, shorter or ± as long as stem, 1-2 mm wide, margins and midrib heavily thickened, thus with 2 longitudinal grooves on each surface, uppermost leaf cauline, sometimes entirely sheathing. Spike flexuose (1)2-to 5-flowered; bracts 7-11 mm long, green, margins hyaline, outer obtuse, inner membranous, slightly shorter than outer. Flowers actinomorphic, salver-shaped, pale to deep pink, with red spot at base of each tepal; perianth tube cylindric, 13-15 mm long, well-exserted from bracts, including stamens and style; tepals ovate, spreading, 12-14 x 6-7 mm, outer wider than inner. Filaments included, ± 1 mm long, inserted ± 1.8 mm above base of perianth tube; anthers ± 3 mm long, reaching to middle of tube. Style short, < 1 mm long, dividing below base of filaments, branches short, ± 1 mm long. Capsules obovoid, 5-6 mm long.
