Characteristics

Plants 70-140 mm high. Corm 3-4 mm diam., ovoid, tunics imbricate, dark brown, fragmenting below into tile-like sections. Stem erect, smooth, usually 1-or 2-branched, bearing scale-like bract up to 10 mm long in upper 1/3 when second branch present. Leaves usually 3, lower 2 erect, blades linear or falcate, 30-40 x 1.5-2.5 mm, margins and main vein raised into narrow wings held at right angles to blade, wings prominently ciliate, upper leaf sheathing stem but free distally. Spike flexed at base and inclined, flexuose, 1-to 3-flowered, branches when present 1-or 2-flowered; bracts unequal, becoming dry and brown in upper half, outer 7-8 mm long, inner 5-6 mm long, 2-keeled and forked apically. Flowers actinomorphic, rotate, white with outer tepals flushed pale pink outside; perianth tube funnel-shaped, ± 1.5 mm long; tepals subequal, ± elliptic, spreading, ± 8 x 3-4 mm. Filaments suberect, equal, ± 2 mm long, anthers 3-4 mm long, white; pollen white. Style erect, dividing opposite upper 1/3 of anthers, branches ± 1.5 mm long, arching above anthers.
