Perennial herb, geophyte, 0.12-0.30 m high; corm tunics brown, woody to soft papery, layers concentric; stem erect, smooth, simple or 1-or 2-branched. Leaves 3-5, terete, margins and midrib enlarged; uppermost ± sheathing. Bracts herbaceous, drying near apex. Inflorescence a 1-flowered spike; flowers pink to mauve, salver-shaped; perianth tube cylindric, widening towards apex; tepals 25-30 mm long, oblanceolate. Stamens 13-20 mm long; anthers 10-12 mm long. Ovary 4 mm long; style declinate, dividing beyond anthers, branches recurved. Flowering time Jan.-May.
Cormous geophyte, 12-30 cm, tunics woody, concentric, stems branched. Leaves terete. Flowers single on branches, large, pink to mauve, tepals spreading, stamens and style unilateral.
