Plants 80-150 mm high. Corm ovoid, 10-15 mm diam.; tunics concentric, light brown, fragmenting vertically into segments tapering above into short spines. Stem smooth, flexed above sheath of second leaf, suberect, usually 1-branched, flexed at base of spike. Leaves usually 3, lowermost basal, with long, linear blade, 10-15 x 3-4 mm, margins thickened and raised into wings extended at right angles and ciliate along edges, sticky outside with sand adhering, main vein also thickened with winged, ciliate edges, plane between margins and main vein, upper leaves smaller. Spike horizontal, lightly flexuose, with flowers borne on upper side, main spike 7-to 10-flowered; bracts suberect, held ± at right angles to axis, green with veins flushed red, margins membranous, outer ± 6 mm long, inner ± 1 mm shorter, forked apically. Flowers actinomorphic, pink, unscented; perianth tube funnel-shaped, ± 6 mm long; tepals subequal, oblong, ± 12 x 5 mm, spreading at right angles to tube. Filaments equal, erect, ± 6 mm long; anthers ± 4 mm long, forked at base, dark purple; pollen brown. Style dividing opposite middle 1/3 of anthers, branches ± 2 mm long.

Cormous geophyte to 15 cm, tunics woody, concentric, stems usually simple. Leaves linear, margins and central vein thickened and winged, wing edges ciliate, viscid with sand adhering. Flowers in a 7-10-flowered spike, pink, stamens symmetrically arranged.
