Plants short, 80-140 mm high. Corm ± ovoid, asymmetric, obliquely flattened below; tunics light brown, concentric, fragmenting irregularly, drawn into bristles above. Stem inclined, flexed above base, rarely with a single branch. Leaves 2 or 3, lowermost basal, longest, falcate, exceeding stem, 1-3 mm wide, margins and midrib thickened and with 2 narrow grooves on each surface, second leaf smaller, uppermost usually cauline, sheathing below, ribbed, sometimes much reduced mostly to entirely sheathing, sticky, with sand adhering. Spike 2-to 8-flowered, flexuose; bracts 8-12 mm long, lightly ribbed, truncate, margins hyaline, inner as long but narrower than outer, sticky. Flowers actinomorphic, rotate, tepals spreading, bright or pale yellow, rarely with dark tube; perianth tube ± narrowly funnel-shaped, 5-8 mm long, barely to shortly exserted from bracts; tepals obovate-ellipsoid, 16-22 x 12-14 mm. Filaments erect, equal, 5-8 mm long; anthers ± 5 mm long, yellow. Style dividing opposite upper third of anthers, branches 3-4 mm long. Capsules oblong-cylindric, (8-)10-12 mm long.
