Plants 200-500 mm long, usually decumbent or trailing, forming clumps. Corm depressed-globose, symmetric, 6-8 mm diam., forming short runners terminating in new plants; tunics apparently concentric, light brown, soft-papery, decaying readily and not accumulating. Stem decumbent, unbranched. Leaves 4-several, decumbent to trailing, at least lower 2 basal, upper cauline and progressively smaller, sometimes bract-like, 3-6 mm wide, linear, usually reaching base of spike, sometimes longer. Spike 2-to 4-flowered; bracts 16-20(-24) mm long, green, becoming submembranous above, inner slightly shorter than outer. Flowers zygomorphic, declinate, pink to purple with dark pink markings near base of lower tepals, purple outside; perianth tube 10-13 mm long, cylindric, ± as long or slightly longer than bracts; tepals ellipsoid, 26-32 x 10-14 mm. Filaments equal, unilateral, declinate, 15-20 mm long; anthers 6-8 mm long; pollen yellow. Style dividing opposite apex of anthers, branches 3-4 mm long.
