Characteristics

Plants small, 50-100 mm high. Corm ovoid, asymmetric, with base obliquely flattened on one side, 5-7 mm diam.; tunics concentric, soft and papery, light brown. Stem suberect, rarely branched. Leaves 3, lower 2 basal, linear and erect to falcate, lowermost longest, shortly exceeding stem, 0.5-1.3 mm wide, margins and main vein somewhat to much enlarged, then with 2 narrow grooves on each surface, edges of margins and main vein evidently smooth, often sticky and with sand adhering; uppermost cauline, short and sheathing below or entirely, sheath ribbed. Spike flexuose, 1-to 4-flowered; bracts green, hyaline above, 3-6 mm long, inner shorter than outer. Flowers actinomorphic, rotate, white to creamy white, tepals spreading; perianth tube 2.5-3.5 mm long, not or barely exceeding bracts; tepals narrowly obovate-elliptic, 6-9 x 2.5-4.0 mm. Filaments erect, equal, ± 2 mm long; anthers ± 2 mm long, yellow. Style dividing opposite apex of anthers, branches up to 0.7 mm long.
