Characteristics

Plants small, 40-80 mm high. Corm globose, asymmetric, one side flattened below and extending downward in a fan-like ridge, 3-4 mm diam.; tunics concentric, outer layers irregularly fragmented. Stem occasionally 1(rarely 2)-branched from base. Leaves usually 4, lower 3 basal, ± half as long as stem, erect to falcate, linear to narrowly sword-shaped, 1.0-2.5 mm wide, plane, uppermost leaf cauline, smaller than basal leaves, lower half sheathing stem. Spike 1(rarely 2)-flowered; bracts 5-7 mm long, upper margins sometimes reddish, inner slightly longer than outer. Flowers actinomorphic, salver-shaped, creamy white or pale yellow with a dark centre, flushed red to purple on outside of outer tepals; perianth tube ± 6 mm long, narrowly funnel-shaped; tepals obovate, (8-)10-12 x 6-8 mm. Filaments erect, equal, 3-4 mm long; anthers 2.5-4.0 mm long. Style dividing opposite apex of anthers.
