Characteristics

Plants 200-300 mm high. Corm ± ovoid, one side flattened slightly below, 5-7 mm diam.; tunics woody, ± black, imbricate, layers breaking below into triangular points. Stem minutely scabrid-puberulous, unbranched, flexed above sheaths of upper 2 leaves, inclined above. Leaves 4, lower 2 basal and longest, reaching at least to middle of stem, sometimes to base of spike, linear, erect or trailing, 1.2-1.5 mm wide, oval in cross section with 2 narrow grooves on each surface, main vein thickened, margins raised and arched over surface, upper 2 leaves cauline, sheathing for at least 1/2 their length, sometimes only 9-12 mm long and entirely sheathing. Spike flexuose, drooping in bud, 4-to 7-flowered; outer bract pale green, upper margins pink-purple, 7-10 mm long, inner ± 2/3 as long, translucent with 2 green keels. Flowers actinomorphic, salver-shaped, pale pink, darker near tepal margins, white in throat, unscented; perianth tube cylindric, 15-17 mm long; tepals subequal, obovate, 12.5-14.0 x 6-7 mm, spreading when fully open. Filaments suberect, unequal, 4, 7 and 9 mm long; anthers ± 4.5 mm long, cream-coloured; pollen pale yellow. Style exceeding anthers by 2-4 mm, branches unusually long, 5-6 mm long.
