Plants 120-200 mm high. Corm ovoid, symmetric, 6-8 mm diam.; tunics blackish, imbricate, notched into regular segments below. Stem sheathed ± 2/3 its length, flexed above sheath of uppermost leaf, occasionally with 1 branch. Leaves 3, lower 2 basal, uppermost basal or inserted shortly above ground, largest, blades linear, ± 1 mm wide, reaching to between middle of stem and base of spike, margins and main vein thickened, 2-grooved on each surface, uppermost sheathing stem in lower 2/3, sheath inflated and several ribbed. Spike flexuose, inclined, 4-to 8(-10)-flowered; bracts green, upper margins often red, sometimes dry and brownish near apex with age, 7-9 mm long, inner shorter than outer. Flowers actinomorphic, rotate, tepals usually shallowly cupped, creamy white; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 3-4 mm long, enclosed in bracts; tepals ovate-elliptic, 13-18 x 5-7 mm. Filaments erect, equal, 5-8 mm long; anthers ± 6 mm long, pale yellow. Style dividing opposite apex of anthers, branches ± 2 mm long. Capsules ± globose, ± 5 mm long.
