Plants 150-300 mm high. Corm much reduced, 3-5 mm diam.; tunics light brown, soft-textured, not accumulating with age. Stem trailing, usually with at least 1, sometimes up to 4 branches. Leaves usually at least 5, lower 3 basal and longest, usually shorter than stem but trailing, plane with lightly thickened margins and main vein, cauline leaves shorter than basal, largely or entirely sheathing. Spike 1-flowered; bracts green, margins often red, outer 16-20 mm long, inner ± as long or slightly shorter than outer. Flowers zygomorphic, funnel-shaped, pale pink to purple, creamy white in throat, base of tepals dark pink; perianth tube narrowly funnel-shaped, 9-13 mm long; tepals ovate-elliptic, subequal, 20-22 x 9-11 mm, subpatent when fully open. Filaments equal, unilateral, declinate, 12-14 mm long; anthers 7-9 mm long, dark brown; pollen brown. Style declinate, extended below filaments, branches ± 4 mm long.
