Characteristics

Leaves short, erect lanceolate, both surfaces covered with narrow flat scale-like trichomes, attached in their centre to an eminence of the surface. The scales of the leaf are unsymmetrical; at the end which points towards the base of the leaf, the individual hairs of which the scale consists, are free for their greater part making that end appear lacerate, but at the other end the hairs are mostly combined into a stout bristle. Style declinate, longer than the stamens. Leaves 30 to 40 millimeter long and 4-5 mm broad.
