Characteristics

Plants 15-20 cm. high.. Corm unknown.. Leaves 2, both basal, reaching to ± the base of the spike, linear, ± 2 mm. wide, without obvious midribs, the sheath extending almost the entire length, the blade thus channelled, the abaxial margin lightly thickened.. Stems unbranched, 1.5-2 mm. in diameter at the base of the spike.. Spike 8-12-flowered, fairly congested, internodes 6-10 mm. long; bracts green, apices of the outer usually 3-lobed, imbricate, ± 2 internodes long or longer, (1.2-)1.6-2.2 cm. long, the inner ± 2/3 as long as the outer.. Flowers blue, possibly the lower tepals with contrasting markings; perianth-tube narrowly funnel-shaped, curving outward between the bracts, 9-10 mm. long; tepals subequal, lanceolate-attenuate, ± 1.5 cm. long, ± 6 mm. wide in the midline, all similarly oriented, directed forward and curving outward distally.. Filaments ± 5 mm. long, included in the upper part of the tube; anthers ± 6 mm. long, ?symmetrically disposed, blocking the mouth of the tube, the basal 1 mm. included, evidently dark-coloured (?purple).. Style orientation uncertain, dividing at mid-anther level, the branches ± 2 mm. long, extending between the anthers.. Capsules unknown.. Fig. 14/1-2.
