Characteristics

Plants 45-55 cm. high.. Corms unknown.. Leaves 5, the lower 3 basal, the blades narrowly lanceolate, 1/3-1/2 as long as the stem, 5-8 mm. wide, fairly firm-textured, the margins and midribs moderately thickened, the 2 upper leaves inserted on the stem, mostly or entirely sheathing.. Stem unbranched, ± 2.3 mm. in diameter at the base of the spike.. Spike straight, 2-3-flowered; bracts (2.8-)4-4.7 cm. long, subequal or the inner slightly shorter, evidently dry at least above at flowering time.. Flowers white, the tepals evidently without markings; perianth-tube 8-8.5 cm. long, arching gently outward; tepals unequal, the upper 3 largest, 4-4.5 × 1.6-1.9 cm., the lower laterals smallest, ± 3.3 cm. long, the median lower tepal 3.5-4 cm. long.. Filaments ± 2.5 cm. long, included in the tube and reaching to just below the mouth of the tube; anthers ± 1.2 cm. long, evidently unilateral, the apices with minute obtuse appendages.. Style extending over the anthers, dividing 2-10 mm. beyond the anther-apices, the branches, 6-7 mm. long.. Capsules unknown.
