Twigs terete or elliptic in section, glabrous or scurfy on youngest parts; bark grey, rarely powdery.. Leaves opposite or subopposite; petiole 5–30 mm. long; lamina leathery or slightly fleshy, glaucous, ± red flushed when young, elliptic-oblong, elliptic or ovate, 4–10 cm. long, 2–7.5 cm. wide, bluntly pointed at the apex, narrowly to broadly cuneate and slightly decurrent at the base; main lateral nerves 4–7 pairs, second to fourth strongly ascending, the well-separated upper ones more spreading, or in broad leaves all more regularly spreading.. Umbels 1–3 in axils and at older leafless nodes; peduncle (2–)5–35 mm. long, sometimes with a few aborted buds below umbel; pedicels 3–9(–18), (2–)3–5 mm. long, glabrous or hairy; bract-cup 0.5–1 mm. long, with a triangular or bifid limb 0.5–1.5 mm. long.. Receptacle 1–1.2 mm. long.. Calyx 0.3–0.7 mm. long.. Corolla red or pink at the base, white or grey above, the apical swelling darkening in ripe buds, lobes green or whitish inside, 2.5–4.5 cm. long; apical swelling obovoid, ± truncate, pentagonal, slightly reduplicate, 2.5–3 mm. across; basal swelling ellipsoid, (3–)4–6 mm. long, (2.5–)3.5–4 mm. in diameter.. Inner anther-thecae 2–4 mm. long; outer ones 0.5–2.5 mm.. Style-constriction 2–4 mm. long; stigma peltate 1.2–1.5 mm. across..
