Characteristics

Dwarf shrublet, no basal parts seen, main stems up to 300 mm long, erect or decumbent, well branched, lower part rough with leaf scars, upper parts leafy, hirsute, hairs to 0.5-0.8 mm long, patent. Leaves fascicled, opposite, alternate upwards, largest primary leaves 4.5-9 x 1.8-3.8 mm, elliptic or broadly elliptic, apex subacute, base narrowed to a distinct petiolar part, margins entire, texture herbaceous, midrib scarcely visible, hairs to c. 0.4 mm long on margins and both surfaces. Inflorescence a raceme c. 10-40 mm long, flowers crowded or distant, racemes panicled at tips of branches, very floriferous and leafy. Bract adnate to pedicel and sometimes extreme base of calyx tube as well, lowermost c. 3-3.3 x 2-2.1 mm, broadly elliptic, tip acute, base narrowed, hairs up to 0.3-0.5 mm long on margins and back, inner face glabrous. Pedicels up to 0.3-0.6 mm long. Calyx 2-2.2 mm long, campanulate, 5-lobed roughly halfway to base, 2 anticous lobes larger than other three, more or less oblong, apex obtuse to almost truncate, sometimes irregularly serrate, hairs up to 0.3-0.5 mm long on margins of all lobes, slighdy shorter hairs all over outside, inside glabrous. Corolla tube 2-2.2 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped, limb c. 4.8-5.5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.2-1.8 x 0.8-1.1 mm, anticous lobef2.2-3 x 1.3-1.7 mm, all lobes elliptic or elliptic-oblong, white, bright orange patch down back of tube. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.3-2 mm long, anthers very shortly exserted, anticous filaments 1.8-2.8 mm long, anthers well to far exserted. Stigma and style c. 2-2.7 mm long, style glabrous. Ovary c. 0.8 x 0.3 mm. Coccus c. 2 x 0.8 mm, dark brown, held within persistent calyx.
