Species

Angiosperms > Lamiales > Scrophulariaceae > Globulariopsis

Characteristics

Herb, possibly perennating, at least 300-400 mm tall, taproot simple, habit unknown, but stems probably simple below, virgately branched above, pubescent, hairs 0.1-0.2 mm long, retrorse, closely leafy. Leaves alternate, fascicled, largest primary leaves 5-8 x 0.5-0.8 mm, linear, apex obtuse, base broad, half-clasping, margins entire, texture thick, venation invisible, glabrous except for hairs 0.1-0.15 mm long on margins of clasping base; axillary leaves similar. Inflorescence composed of small glomerules c. 5 x 6 mm in first flower arranged in a corymbose panicle. Bract adnate to pedicel only, lowermost 3-3.5 x 1.3-1.9 mm, ovate to elliptic, scarcely concave, obtuse or subobtuse, hairs 0.1-0.15 mm long on margins, otherwise glabrous. Pedicel up to 0.25-0.5 mm long. Calyx 2.2-3 mm long, campanulate, 5-lobed less than halfway, all lobes oblong, obtuse, hairs 0.1-0.15 mm long on margins and all over outer surface, inner surface glabrous. Corolla tube 1.8-2 mm long, funnel-shaped, limb 5-6 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 1.3-1.8 x 1-1.25 mm, anticous lobe 2.4-2.8 x 1.5-1.8 mm, all lobes broadly elliptic, colour unknown, but probably white with yellow patch down back of throat. Stamens: posticous filaments 1.5-2 mm long, anticous filaments 1.8-2.5 mm, all anthers well exserted. Stigma and style 1.7-4.2 mm long, style glabrous. Ovary c. 0.7 x 0.4 mm. Coccus c. 2 x 1.3 mm (few seen), held within persistent calyx.
