Characteristics

Perennial herb or suffrutex c. 300 mm to 1 m tall, virgately well branched, stems pubescent, hairs c. 0.15-0.6 mm long, ± recurved, closely leafy. Leaves alternate, fascicled, largest primary leaves 7-15.5 x 0.3-0.8 mm, linear, apex subacute, base slightly narrowed then expanded and half-clasping, margins entire, texture moderately thick, midvein slightly raised on lower surface or not, invisible above, blade glabrous, few hairs to 0.15-0.25 mm long on margins of clasping base, occasionally small hairs scattered along lower margins; axillary leaves similar but smaller. Inflorescence an elongated panicle, eventually large and lax, composed of small racemes, flowers often distant. Bract adnate to pedicel only, lowermost 2.4-3.5 x 1.2-1.8 mm, elliptic, acute, concave, hairs c. 0.3-0.6 mm long on margins, 0.2-0.3 mm long on both surfaces. Pedicel c. 0.2-0.8 mm long. Calyx 1.5-2 mm long, campanulate, 54obed up to halfway to base, 2 anticous lobes slightly larger than other three, all lobes narrowly deltoid, acute, hairs up to 0.3-0.8 mm long on margins and all over outside, few much shorter ones inside. Corolla tube 2.7-3.5 mm long, narrowly funnel-shaped, limb 5-7 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 2-2.4 x 1-1.2 mm, anticous lobe 2.6-4 x 1.1-1.9 mm, all lobes oblong or oblong-elliptic, white, yellow to orange patch down back of throat. Stamens: posticous filaments 0.8-1 mm long, anthers in throat or mouth or very shortly exserted; anticous fdaments 1.3-2.1 mm long, anthers shortly exserted. Stigma and style c. 3.5-5 mm long, style glabrous. Ovary c. 0.6 x 0.2 mm. Coccus c. 1.8 x 1.1 mm (few seen), dark brown, held within persistent calyx.
