Characteristics

A dwarf heath-like shrub; branches erect, stout, at first pubescent; leaves opposite, approximate, linear-oblong, 3 lin. long, lin. wide, obtuse, slightly pubescent at first, soon quite glabrous; flowers clustered at the ends of the branches; calyx adpressed-silky outside; tube 6 lin. long, ovoid below, contracted at the middle, funnel-shaped above, strongly ribbed; lobes ovate, acute, 2 lin. long, 1.25 lin. wide; petals 8, anther-like, oblong, obtuse, 1 lin. long, glabrous; anthers 1/2 lin. long, obtuse; ovary ovoid, hairy at the apex; style filiform, 3 lin. long; stigma penicillate.
