Characteristics

An erect shrub; branches terete, erecto-patent, glabrous; leaves alternate, lanceolate, 4-9 lin. long, 0.5 lin. wide, acute or pungent, 1-(or inconspicuously 3-)nerved, glabrous; flowers in terminal clusters which elongate into spikes; calyx silky outside, densely so at the base; tube 3.5 lin. long, subcylindrical; lobes oblong, obtuse, 0.75 lin. long, 0.5 lin. wide: petals 8, subulate, slightly shorter than the calyx-lobes; anthers oblong, 0.3 lin. long; ovary hairy at the apex; style 3 lin. long; stigma subcapitate.
