Calyx tube 6–10 mm long, silvery pubescent above the articulation, glabrous below; lobes 1.5–2.5 × 1–1.5 mm, elliptic to oblong, rounded, pubescent on the outside.
Bracts 4–6, 6–9 × 5–8 mm, broadly elliptic to suborbicular, acute to rounded, scarious, glabrous, brown or chestnut-coloured, persistent.
Leaves alternate, with petiole c. 1 mm long; lamina (8)12–16(28)× 1–8 mm, linear, narrowly elliptic to narrowly obovate, acute, glabrous.
Stamens with very short filaments; anthers 0.5–0.7 mm long, the upper whorl slightly exserted.
Inflorescence capitate, peduncled, terminal and axillary, 30–60-flowered, usually nodding.
Flowers 4-merous, yellow or greenish-yellow; pedicels 1.5–2 mm long, villous.
Branches slender at top, ± glabrous; bark brown or chestnut-red.
Petals 0.5–1.2 mm long, linear to narrowly elliptic.
Ovary glabrous; disk none; style 4–5 mm long.
Much branched shrub up to 1.5 m high.
Seed 2.5–3 × 1 mm.
