Characteristics

Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves alternate, sessile, entire or lyrate-pinnatifid. Capitula disciform, in corymbose inflorescences; phyllaries 2–3-seriate, subequal, the innermost smallest; receptacle convex, tuberculate, epaleate. Female florets in 3 rows, tubular with 3–4 minute teeth, yellowish; inner florets hermaphrodite, yellow, tube infundibuliform; anthers with short triangular appendages; style-branches with short triangular appendages. Achenes ellipsoid-oblong, hairy; pappus absent.
