Characteristics

Dense spreading shrub, 2-2.5 m high. Leaves bipinnatipartite, 3-6 cm long, 30-60 mm wide, with 3-9 primary lobes each 3-5-partite; ultimate lobes linear to very narrowly triangular, 1-3 cm long, 1-2.5 mm wide, rigid, pungent; margins revolute; lower surface mostly or completely enclosed except for midvein, glabrous or with scattered appressed hairs. Unit conflorescence usually decurved, secund; floral rachis 50-60 mm long. Flower colour: perianth translucent cream to purplish mauve or pink; style cream at base, becoming pale pinkish or mauve above, with a green tip. Perianth glabrous outside. Pistil 27-32 mm long; ovary stipitate; style glabrous. Follicle 8-10 mm long, loosely villous.
