Characteristics

Shrub 1-2.2 m high, to 3 m across. Leaves (2.5-) 4-8 cm long, pinnatipartite to biternate with 3-8 primary lobes, these usually again 2-4-partite; ultimate lobes rather divaricate, linear, subterete to subelliptic in cross-section, 5-35 mm long, 0.8-1.2 mm wide, pungent; margins ±smoothly to angularly revolute, enclosing lower surface except for midveins. Unit conflorescence erect, secund; floral rachis (30-) 50-75 mm long. Flower colour: perianth greenish to fawn-pink; style crimson to light burgundy with a green tip. Perianth loosely tomentose to subvillous outside (biramous hairs), sometimes also with short erect simple glandular hairs. Pistil 18-21 mm long; ovary ±sessile; style with scattered minute erect simple hairs about middle on ventral side. Follicle 12-14 mm long, tomentose with both biramous and erect simple glandular hairs.
