Characteristics

Small shrub very similar to G. villosa but with long virgate stems from a woody rootstock.. Young stems densely stellate-pubescent, not villous.. Leaves subcircular, 2.5–11 cm long, 2.5–10 cm wide, ± rounded to obtuse or slightly apiculate at the apex, cordate at the base, margin coarsely serrate or dentate, veins prominent and finely reticulate, sparsely pubescent above but denser on the veins, densely stellate-pubescent beneath but without longer hairs on the veins; petioles 0.5–3 cm long, densely stellate-pubescent; stipules subulate, 8–11 mm long.. Inflorescence 2–4 cm across, usually with more than 20 flowers.. Sepals 5–7 mm long; petals oblong, 3–4 mm long, ± 1 mm wide.. Androgynophore ± absent.. Ovary ± 1 mm long, densely hairy; style ± 4.5 mm long.. Fruit 2–4-lobed, ± 1.8 cm wide, tuberculate.
