Tree or shrub, sometimes rather scandent, to 9 m tall; young branches sparsely minutely stellate-pubescent.. Leaves elliptic to narrowly oblong, 1.5–10 cm long, 0.9–3.5 cm wide, acute to acuminate at the apex, rounded and asymmetric at the base, margin serrate, ± glabrous or with a few scattered hairs when young above, whitish tomentellous beneath with only a few scattered minute hairs on the often brownish veins; petiole 3–9 mm long, often bicolorous with the upper half whitish tomentellous, lower half glabrous; stipules subulate, up to 6 mm long.. Inflorescence a (1–)3-flowered cyme, 1–4 in a leaf-axil, the axes with a sparse minute greyish stellate pubescence; bracts 3–4 mm long; peduncle 7–12 mm long; pedicels 5–12 mm long.. Flowers yellow, buds whitish; sepals 7–9 mm long; petals 4–6 mm long.. Androgynophore ± 1 mm long, glabrous, densely hairy at apex.. Stamens 5–6 mm long..
