Characteristics

Shrub or small tree 6–12 m tall; young branches glabrous, dark reddish brown.. Leaves broadly ovate, 5.7–12 cm long, 4–6.8 cm wide, acuminate at the apex, rounded at the base, margins serrate, glabrous except for a few scattered hairs on the veins; petiole 7–11 mm long, with a few sparse coarse stellate hairs.. Inflorescence a 1–3(–4)-flowered cyme, 1–3 in a leaf-axil; peduncle 14–17 mm long; pedicels 12–14 mm long, with a few sparse coarse stellate hairs.. Flowers yellow; sepals 10–12 mm; petals 4–5 mm, notched at the apex.. Androgynophore glabrous for ± 1 mm, hairy at the apex.. Stamens 5–8 mm long.. Ovary ± 1.5 mm long, densely hairy; style ± 6 mm long.. Fruits not seen.. Fig. 4/48 (leaf, p. 11).
