This species has a rather greyish short pubescence, like that of G. bicolor Juss., but a leaf-shape quite unlike the elliptic-oblong or lanceolate leaves of that species and agreeing instead with G. monticola Sond.
Its leaves are asymmetrically cordate and oblong-ovate to ovate. The leaf texture is not so thin as in G. bicolor, nor so leathery as in G. monticola.
It appears to be a hybrid between Grewia monticola and Grewia bicolor. It is a shrub. It can grow up to 8 m high.
Shrub, 2-4 m high. Leaves discolorous, asymmetrical at base, margin regularly serrate. Flowers yellow.
In all respects it seems morphologically to be about half-way between G. monticola and G. bicolor.
