Characteristics

Shrub to 4.5 m high, much branched; stems dark brown, the youngest parts puberulous, becoming glabrous.. Leaves petiolate or the upper sessile, ovate to lanceolate, 7–19 cm long, 4–15 cm wide, base cordate to cuneate and connate with that of opposite leaf, margins entire, dentate or serrate, recurved, apex acute, veins and margins pilose otherwise glabrous or minutely hairy below, glandular on veins and margins; 3-veined from base; petiole 15–55 mm long.. Capitula terminal several-headed cymes; stalks of individual capitula 4–10(–15) mm long; involucre 7–10(–15) mm long; outer 5 phyllaries larger than the inner; paleae similar to inner phyllaries.. Ray florets 5–8, yellow, tube 1–2 mm long with hairy base, ray 6–11 mm long; disc florets yellow, tube 3.4–3.6 mm long, lobes 0.7–0.8 mm long.. Achenes obovoid, 2.3–2.8 mm long; pappus absent.
