Characteristics

Dioicous. Up to 10 mm long, bluish green-brownish green, simple or branched. Stem up to 200 µ in diameter, cortical cells about 16 x 20 µ, thick walled, walls brown, interior cells 14-18 µ, walls thin, colourless. Rhizoids colourless. Shoots ± flattened in dorsal-frontal direction. Leaves approximate-distant, usually densely crowded in the apex of the shoots, squarrose, obovate, transversely inserted, slightly complicate, bilobed to 1/3, lobes roudedly triangular, + apiculate, sinus obtuse, rounded. Marginal cells about 20 µ, interior cells about 20 x 24 µ, walls thick, trigones + large, colourless, apiculi 1-3 cells long. Oil bodies 1-3 per cell, up to 6 x 10 µ, homogeneous, glinsening. Androecia apical, with densely crowded bracts.
